Today, I am sharing with you another inexpensive way to make something pretty for your home using drop cloth.
A table runner with fringe.
I love this material because it is so easy to work with and it goes well with everything.

I always buy the drop cloth at Lowe's. I really like this brand, good quality with little imperfections.

This time around, I made a runner for our family room coffee table using drop cloth I already had at home.
I cut my drop cloth 15"W x 72"L with an extra inch all around for the seam. (16"x73")

I did sew mine, but if you want, you can also use iron on hem tape. It will work just fine.
To finish it off, I purchased at Hobby Lobby one yard of fringe that would compliment the drop cloth and sew it on each end.
The fringe was $5,99 a yard, but with the 40% coupon, I paid $3.60 and that was the total cost of this project.

Very simple and economical, that way, when in a few weeks you ( me) decide to change it again,
you (me) won't feel that bad about it. LOL
I hope you give this project a try.

Enjoy your day!

  11. HI Maria, Your table runner looks very nice, very professional. Did you bleach the drop cloth before you cut it? Looks like you did a very thorough ironing job on it, looks so sophisticated on your gorgeous coffee table. The trim you used really makes the runner, great post
I made a Christmas runner with some special fabric I had couple years ago, used that kind of trim. When we lived in KY there was a decorator shop outside of Bowling Green that sold fabric, tail ends of trims for good prices so I'd go out there on payday to see what they had. Even tho I wouldn't know what I'd use it for I'd still buy trim for future uses, who knows what. Too good a deal to pass them up. We left KY in 2004 and I'm still using some of trim I bought, sure glad I bought it when I could. We live out in country now, few miles from fabric stores so it's nice to have what I need, not have to go to town.
Found you thru Silver Pennies Sundays Link party. Happy week

  12. Visiting from Sew Darn Crafty link up. What a great idea....using drop cloth! I love the neutral color of it and that fringe is perfect. I'm gonna give this a try. It's just my skill level and the perfect price point :)

  13. ♥ it so much that now I want to make myself one! Pinned -- thanks for linking up to IT'S PARTY TIME. xoxo

  14. Hi Maria, what a great idea, you could probably get three or four from that, don't you think? Think I'll make one for my daughter, and maybe paint a stripe down the center. Thank you for the inspiration.

  15. Love the fringe on this runner! I have both drop cloth fabric AND fringe that I picked up on clearance. (I had no idea what to do with it but I can not pass up a huge bargain!) I am going to make one of these for my dining room table. Thanks for the great idea!

  16. You're right...it is very economical and elegant too! Love it! I'm featuring it at this week's link party. http://www.thelifeofjenniferdawn.com/2014/06/a-little-bird-told-me-link-party-95.html
