Hello, everyone!
This has been a crazy week for me and I finally have a little time to share with you a change we made
a couple of weeks ago to my daughter's bedroom.
a couple of weeks ago to my daughter's bedroom.
She took some much needed time off work and we have spending some nice time together.
Of course, a little shopping had to be included in our mother/daughter time.
The truth is we went to Ross looking for a basket and we came out with a cart full of things and no basket. :)
Anyway, this is what we found, a beautiful comforter set, that, btw, we were NOT looking for.
But it was love at first sight for her and even more when we checked the price.
Could not believe our eyes! Sorry for the blurry picture.
For $35,00, this set included a very nice and thick queen comforter, bed skirt, two pillow shams
and three decorative pillows. We just could not leave it behind.
Let me show you how it looks in her room.
The best part was that when we got home, we realized it went perfectly with the color scheme
she already had, so nothing accent pieces had to be purchased.
We took one of the small pillows to Hancock Fabrics and found a fabric that matched perfectly
and it was on sale at 50% off.
With that fabric, I made for her two Euro shams and some new drapes.
We changed the look of her dresser by creating a different vignette with things we had at home.
A small silver lamp I had in storage, three candles holders and a small yellow pot with flowers she already had.
We also sprayed painted and old frame in white, covered it with some of the same fabric and using some scrapbook paper and a silk ribbon, we made our own wall art.
And that is all the changes we made.
Total cost of this project was $55.00.
What do you think?
She is back to work this week, but I think this weekend we are goint to try and give her desk chair a makeover.
We will see how that turns out.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
See you soon!

ReplyDeleteHi Maria! I've been gone from blogland for almost a month and have missed out on so much! Wow, I love the new comforter set you found and it's gorgeous in your daughter's room. It does match perfectly! Are you going to paint the desk that pretty yellow color? How fun to be able to spend time with your daughter. We have bought a home in upstate New York to be our little grandchildren and I'm so excited. I'll be having to do lots of painting!

Marilyn
Hi, Marilyn.Thank you so much.
DeleteThe name of the set is Samara bedding collection.
What excellent luck! To find a set with all of those pieces for that price, (even for Ross' s) is quite a steal! I love the colors and the print and you did an amazing job accessorizing! Stoping by from FlusterBuster. Thanks for sharing your adorable room makeover!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe all you did to make this room special. So many inspirational, simple and inexpensive projects! You really scored on that bedding especially when it can take $1000 sometimes to do a bed.
ReplyDeleteMaria, wow that looks so fantastic and was definitely the perfect comforter for your space! Of course you had to buy it! BTW, I swear that is how my shopping trips always end up going...I go in for 1 things and come out with everything but what I went for in the first place, lol! Thanks so much for linking up at the Creative Collection Link Party! Hope to see you again this friday. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful changes. Your room is so bright and cheery. I love the wreath artwork. Thanx for partying at THT!
ReplyDeleteIt came out gorgeous - that is one lucky girl! I wouldn't have been able to walk away from that price either, that was a score. Found you when i linked up at The Shabby Nest - love your projects!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bedroom. I love the comforter set.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn C.
I have to ask another question. I found this set online (but not for the price you paid :( My question is did you purchase a separate bedskirt or was there one included. The one I see online is more of a greenish color. I like the blue better. So if you purchased a separate bedskirt, where did you purchase it from to match so closely and what is the color name.
ReplyDeleteThanks again,
Marilyn C.
The bedskirt came with the comforter set, so I don't know the name of the color. I know this bedding sells online at much higher prices, that is why it was such a bargain to find it at Ross so cheap. It included everything you see minus the curtains and Euro shams. I made those for her.
DeleteThe fabric I bought for the drapes and large shams I bought at Hancock Fabrics.I hope this helps.
Beautiful. I love the color palette. It was like that set was made for this room.

ReplyDeleteHi: I'm so glad that I found your blog. The color scheme of your daughter's new bedding is just what I have, and I've been struggling to find a wall color that I like. If you remember, would you give us the company and name/number? TIA Judi

It looks great! I just redid my room with a Waverly set. They only had a scalloped valance and I have very big windows. It just isn't enough. I am going to have to take the sham to the fabric outlet and see if I can find something to make drapes. You did a great job on yours!
ReplyDeleteLoved this gorgeous post! We featured you today at Ivy and Elephants. Feel free to drop by and grab a featured button.
