Getting the porch ready for Fall

After the molding on our front door was finished last week,
I have been working on getting the front porch decorated for Fall.

We had a lot of rain this weekend and although I planted some mums last week, the rest of the planting I wanted to do had to be put on hold until things dry up a bit.

Meanwhile, I have been busy making pillows and doing a little spray painting.
Although I am not quite finished, the porch is starting to look like Fall is finally here.

This year I decided to add a different color to my Fall decor.
I  mixed dark purple flowers, fabric and ribbon with the traditional yellow and oranges
and I think it just made everything look warmer.

I used everything I already had from previous years, so all I had
to buy was the flowers for the wreath.
I even used left over material I already had for the pillows.
Here is what I have so far.

I filled the flowers boxes next to the bench with leaves
and a couple of little scarecrows.

On the side of the door I added a metal stand that we must have had
in the garage for the last ten years. :)

It was a very ugly green, so I sprayed painted black, added a
cute little wooden harvest sign that I found at HL and put a basket on top
with pumpkins, gourds and some small bunches of wheat.

Here you can see the flowers I used for the wreath I  made a few weeks ago.
If you missed it, you can see that post here.

And added a little flower and ribbon to the candle on my lantern.

On the side of the porch I planted some yellow and orange mums and added my Fall monogrammed garden flag that I bough a couple of months ago at Kirklands.

I also hope to be able to add some more mums by the front door soon.
Things have been just too hectic around here!
But now that the temperatures are in the 70's, we can really
enjoy our porch as the sun goes down.

As always, I thank you for always taking the time to stop by.
Hope everyone has a great week!

  20. Hi Maria Elena! I love how well balanced your porch looks with the colors you've used. I like the purple added in - makes everything "pop"! I have that same little plant stand and never thought of hanging something off of it - very clever. I'm jealous of all your mums and how healthy they look - I planted several and then missed a day or two of watering and well I guess we all know what happened!lol

    Another pretty post!

  23. That's really pretty, and the rich purple does add a nice dimension. Everything looks great, including the door, and I love the idea of a big rug at the entry instead of a mat!

  25. How pretty your entry area is, Maria Elena!

So welcoming and everything is so nice and
fresh and lovely! (My house is old --- so nothing
is clean and perfect and not very inviting at all.)

    You have inspired me.
