ORGANIZING OUR HOME AFTER THE HOLIDAYS/ KITCHEN PANTRY

 Hello, Everyone!

I don't know if this is something that happens to all of you, but every year after Christmas is over, it seems all the work I did all year long trying to keep our home organized, just went out the window.

This year we did a lot of entertaining over the Holidays and last week, after my husband and kids went back to work and school, I found myself staring at my kitchen pantry and wondering what in the world had happened in there. :)

Please, don't get scared! I am so embarrassed to show you the before pictures.
I promise this is not the way we keep our home!  LOL

I had to figure our a way to organize this space! So, off I went to the Dollar Tree.
Ok, it is after Christmas and I do NOT want to spend a fortune on baskets and containers, so I figured I could probably find something at the dollar store that could help me make the pantry better and I was right. Dollar Tree came to the rescue!

I purchased several plastic containers in a sage green color and white. When I got home, I downloaded some pretty blue Chevron design labels from Worldlabel which I cut with my pattern scissors to make them a little prettier.

Punch two little holes and used twine to attach them to my new containers.

And after many hours of cleaning and rearranging, this is what the pantry looks like now.
Total cost of this project was $20.00, a few sheets of card paper and ink.

Next project, my storage closet.
That is going to require more than just a few containers from the Dollar Tree. :)

Thank you all for stopping by!

  1. That is what I did one day last week, too, Maria Elena- although not quite as wonderfully as you did. Now I know what I need to corral my potatoes though. That is a wonderful idea.

Your whole pantry looks GREAT. It feels good to have it done, doesn't it? xo Diana

  3. Wow! That's a big difference, I bet that's a load off your shoulders. Those kind of organizational projects usually nag at me until I get them done. Great job Maria!

  4. First of all, I love the SIZE of your pantry! You are so lucky! I'd love to have one just to stock up at Costco. And I know this was a huge undertaking because it takes me a long time just to clean out my three food cabinets.

Great idea to get your bins at Dollar Tree, I will have to look for them. Did you also get the container that holds your canned vegetables there? I think I could really use a few of those. Great post and you are making a great start this year in organizing! :)

    XO,

  8. Wow! this looks awesome. I wish I had a nice pantry like yours. I love the storage bin idea with the sweet labels. My home is 150 years old so I do not have the luxury of alot of pantry space. I sure wish I did. Great job!

Gracias

  12. This looks GREAT! My pantry is on my to do list this month and I have been pondering how to start. Your labels unify all the containers for a uniform look even though the containers are not all the same. The labels are super cute too! Thanks for sharing all the photos and info! I hope my turns out half as well as yours!

  13. HOLY COW, WOMAN...that is ONE AWESOME PANTRY. Even in a slight "after Christmas" state, it is AWESOME.
Now that you've made all these cute and useful containers, the pantry is MAGNIFICENT. I could live in there.
Wow...so impressive. I have lived most of my life with a tiny TINY pantry so this one really makes an impression on me.
I am going to do a post on pantries one of these days so I am saving a photo of yours. Thanks so much for sharing.

  14. Hi Maria Elena, I think you should come visit me and help organize our pantry!! I suppose I am weird but I don't feel like the house is clean if the pantry and kitchen drawers are in disarray. With all the cooking during the holidays things seem to get out of order rather quickly. Your system looks like it is working very well for you. I like the cute labels on the containers. Shannon

  18. This is amazing. I actually thought your before photos looked fine, but when I saw that bin labeled "corn" I decided you are a genius. My pet peeve is when my family puts cans in the wrong place in the pantry, and then I have to search through every can to find what I need. Drives me batty! Dollar tree bins with labels! Yay!

  20. OK. That's it! I'm spending the day in my pantry. I have an entire shelf with cooking wines, oils and infused vinegars. The best idea I took away from your post is to organize them in marked containers. No more picking up a dozen bottles before finding the right one. This is going to save me so much time! Thanks for an inspiring post.

  30. Maria, your pantry is huge. I wish mine wasn't under our foyer staircase. Even as short as I am, it's difficult to arrange somethings in that low back area of the pantry. Containers work great. I love being able to carry out the one that I need w/o tearing everything up. Your label idea sounds like something I need to get into, too.
    Thanks, Helen

  39. Hi Maria Elena, you did a fab job! I did this a year ago using baskets that I had picked up at the thrift store. I get the cleaning bug after Christmas too. I noticed that my pantry need everything pulled out and reorganized. On the to do list for next week. Your pantry is so nice and large. Mine is way too small. We did not build the home and the kitchen is nice and large so don't ask me what they were thinking about the pantry. I will have to do a post after I reorganize. Thanks for shaing with Share Your Cup.
