TUESDAYS AT OUR HOME # 65 & FEATURES

Happy Monday!
Welcome to Tuesdays at Our Home!

I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day weekend with your loved ones.
Our weekend was excellent, but busy.
Although we reserved a little time to relax and family time, we also had plenty of chores to do.

One of them was our front lawn.
We added fertilizer and other things to it last year at the end of Summer and this year it is growing really well,
but that means to have to mow it regularly.
We did this early in the morning since our temperatures are already on the high 90's and very humid.
You want to see how hot? Well, this was my first surprise that morning.

Yes! That is my lantern with the battery operated candle I have had on my front porch table for a long time.
Can you believe it??? It is hot in Texas! :)

Our second surprise was even worse.
From far away, we could see these black thing on one of our Crape myrtles.
First we thought it was a bird nest, but after closer inspection, this is what we found.

Bees! Lots and lots of bees!
Well, my friends, we had a problem! We have never seen anything like it!

We literally had to run in the house and wait for the cloud of bees to disappear.
And when we went back to see if they were gone, this is what we found.

Nothing!!!
Isn't that crazy? It was just a giant ball of bees.
Yes, we did have a weird morning. :)

Enough talking!
Let's take a look at the features from last week.

Laurel from The North End Loft made some changes to her windows and added beautiful drapes.
You have to see her tutorial on how she improvised to create a rod long enough for a very large window.
 Sooo pretty!

Jody from Southern Seazons impressed us once again with her beautifulhome decor.
This time, she shared with us her gorgeous patio and her new outdoor decor.
Love the colors! Gorgeous!!!

Lisa from Texas Decor revealed her newly painted kitchen cabinets.
What a beautiful job they did. The changes are amazing!
You just have to go see her full post. Beautiful!

Patty from Old Things New shared a tutorial on how she remodeled her kitchen island.
What a gorgeous transformation!
I have been wanted to do something like this to my island and I am very inspired after reading her post.

Holly from The Coconut's Head gave us a tour of her newly renovated outdoor space.
What a beautiful area to sit  down and enjoy Summer.
Well done, Holly!

Ashley from 3Little Greenwoods found a very nice hutch at a yard sale and transformed it into
a beautiful piece of furniture for her home.
So very pretty! Just perfect for that space!

  3. Thanks so much for featuring my painted kitchen cabinets! I really appreciate it! I've had candles melt like yours did. I'm VERY familiar with the Texas heat. Lol! And those bees!! Wow! So weird that it was just a big ball of bees! Yikes!

  4. I have had the same thing happen with candles on the front porch. I love how they look, but the front porch is on the west side of the house and it doesn't take long for a candle to melt in Summer.
    Thanks so much for hosting!

  7. Maria, I loved seeing how you decorated your pantry door! I have lots of hearts and have a collection of them. One used to always be on the pantry door. You just inspired me to put one up again. Thanks for the idea and this great party.

  13. Hi Maria,
Thanks as always for hosting. Those bees.... they were actually a harmless colony on their way to finding a new home. The queen was in the center of that glob being protected by all her minions :-) With bees quickly becoming an endangered species and the country being in fear of losing the ability to have crops pollinated, actual bees should be moved by a pro if at all possible and not exterminated. If you encounter this again, call your town's animal control warden and he/she can get someone out to you to safely move the colony.
    Have a great week!
    Blessed be,
    Michael

  15. Wow that is crazy! I am glad your husband can run fast! Our neighbor's had a huge beehive on their house, come to find out in our state by law you have to have it professionally relocated, you are lucky! Thanks for the party!

  16. Thank you for featuring my curtains, Maria! I can't believe that poor melted candle, but it sure brings back memories of my own broiling Austin summers. I found a bee swarm like that in a grade school playground tree once; one of the strangest things I've ever seen. Great photos!

  17. Oh my god!!! I had them several years ago and caught in my garden from bees that were flying around it! Take care.

  18. Oh my gosh be careful those look like those African killer bees. I know someone from up here that was a beekeeper and moved to texas and was helping with management of them. Thank goodness they left. They are tempermental so avoid at all cost!
Thank you for hosting the party!! XO, Liz

  19. Oh my, those bees looked scary. We had something similar a couple of months ago. A swarm had completely engulfed one of our small oak trees in our front yard -- just a black cloud around the entire tree. The Man was on his way out to run an errand and stopped by our local fire station to see what we should do. They told us that often times a swarm of bees will stop in mass like that to rest while they are migrating and not to worry unless they stayed. They disappeared as quickly as they had appeared. Thank goodness! I always worry about the Africanized bees, too, because there have been some attacks in AZ. I know they have been prevalent in Texas over the last several years, so be cautious, but please don't send them our way.....lol!
