I have to tell you, I only started decorating for Fall three years ago, which is about the time I started blogging.
Until then, my home stayed about the same all year until we started decorating for Christmas, a reason for that was the fact that I worked long hours outside the home and also because, truthfully, I had no idea what to do. :)
But then I was introduced to your blogs and your beautiful seasonal decor and I decided to try my hand at it.
Little by little I have been collecting some items, either bought or homemade by me and although I don't have much, every year I add a little to my collection.
My first year was very simple.
First thing I did was to make two pillows for the breakfast table. I have used those same pillows every year since.
I used some Fall place mats to decorate the table and a very small centerpiece from Kirklands.
I also added Fall garland to the lamp.
I set up the kitchen island with some simple plates and a few Fall items.
And my mantle was very, very simple. :)
My front porch also got a few touches.
This time I started with the outdoor decor first.
And then moved on to decorating the kitchen.
That was the year I made my first burlap runner, which I used for the kitchen island with a Fall vignette.
And since the kitchen and family room area are all open space, I also decorated the mantle.

Last year was the first year I really preplanned all my fall decor. I still used most of my old decor from previous years, but I spent many hours in my craft room sewing, stenciling and making wreaths.
It was fun, but not so much when it was time to put it all away. :)

Inside our home, I also used the same decor I had, but just changed things around and made some new burlap items to give the house a different look.
And here is the Fall 2013 decor in the family room and mantle.
And for this year, well, I do NOT have a plan, no idea what I am going to do, as they say back home, NADA! :)
I hope this post gives you a little inspiration to start decorating for the Fall season that is just seems to be coming faster and faster. As for me, I am counting on you and your blogs to get me started this year. LOL
Thank you all for visiting.
See you soon!

Hi Maria Elena,
ReplyDeleteI think the colours in your home's architectural and decorative features are a perfect match for fall's lovely ambiance of hues. Your seasonal decor throughout the years is very pretty and your home looks, most of all, always cozy and comfortable.

ReplyDeleteI love seeing your transitions year to year Maria Elena! They all look beautiful so whatever you come up with this year I'm sure will be perfect as always! I'm not ready to do FALL yet since I'm still holding on to summer, but with my baby due soon, I think I might have to!
ReplyDeleteYour house is always glowing for fall, Maria. Thank you for all the autumn inspiration!
ReplyDeleteIt has been so hot here (close to 100°), that I am still in summer mode. It will be nice once the temperature drop a little and I get ready for Fall
ReplyDeleteI love all your fall inspiration in this post! I just started decorating for fall a few years ago too. I still can't believe how many bins of fall decor I've collected through the years. :)

How inspiring Maria. New follower.
ReplyDeleteIsn't just so much fun to see the changes we make either by accident or intentionally to give our seasonal decorations new life? I think you did a great job from the first time right on through to last year, and I know you will find your footing and have your home decorated just beautifully. My Fall decorating is finished (well, except for the tweaking that I know will come), but I'm trying to figure out how I want to present the different spaces in posts -- oh, boy, we bloggers do face some weird dilemmas, don't we! I haven't put anything outside yet as we are still have triple digit heat -- YUK! I have my front door wreath hanging on my craft room door until it cools a little bit -- if I tried putting it outside now, all the hot glue would melt and my wreath would fall apart!
ReplyDeleteI love fall and your decorations are awesome! Thank you for linking up at #MerryMonday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and not fussy. I think fall decor can get a little fussy. I love your kitchen counter arrangments.I am going to pin & use them for some inspiration for my tables; no room on the counters. A great share! Thanks. Linda
