AN EASY FALL ACCENT PILLOW

Another week is almost over and this family is very much looking forward to the weekend.
No special plans, just a little bit of rest time is very much needed.

Before we head into the weekend, I wanted to share with you some very simple and easy Fall pillows I made this week.

Because our kitchen and family room is all open space, I always like to bring a bit of whatever decor
I have in the kitchen into our family room area.
You remember the placemats I bought at Walmart for the breakfast table.

I got a couple extra ones and with them I made some envelope style pillow covers to use
as accent pillows in the family room.
I used some leftover drop cloth for the backs.

 And sew it all together.

Inserted a small pillow form and it was done.
Such a simple project.
It literally took me fifteen minutes to put it together.
The placemats are $1.98 each. Cheapest pillow ever! :)

I hope to be done with all the Fall decor this week.
We will see! :)
I hope everyone have a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
See you all soon!

  2. Oh my gosh, what a beautiful placemat for the price, Maria Elena! It makes for a beautiful pillow, too. I did the same with a PB placemat last year after seeing Yvonne from Stone Gable's. I opened up the placemat and inserted a form, which made for practically no sewing, but it is permanent without the envelope back. Love it!

  6. Maria!!!! You could have told us you bought them at the finest department store. Really, they are fabulous! Maria, I came across a post this week from the days when you didn't sew. You can top anyone I know, who sews today!!! Maybe it was back when the drop cloth curtains were first mentioned. You keep doing amazing things.

  12. Maria Elena, you are brilliant! I've been looking at all of the beautiful Fall pillows in Pottery Barn and other expensive stores but I knew I couldn't justify the expense. I have drop cloth fabric and I have a WalMart. Now I just need to see if I can find some great placemats like yours! Thanks for sharing and blessings to you,
    Patti

  14. Maria Elena...your new pillow is the cutest thing ever. How fun to pick up placemats for such a great price and turn them into such sweet pillows. Did you stuff them will poly or are their pillow inserts the same size as the pillow covers?

Thank you so much for sharing your Great Idea with us at Project Inspire{d}!
Hope your week is filled with extraordinary creativity!
