Spring Cleaning

I hope everybody had a great weekend!
Ours was busy, as always,

The weather here finally cleared up and we had a gorgeous weekend of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 70's, so we did some Spring cleaning on the front porch
and flower bed, which, after over two weeks of dreadful weather,
it looked like a jungle.

After everything was cleaned, I was able to add a little bit of Spring to my front porch.
I am sure I will be adding some more things here and there as the
weeks go by, but for now, it is all cleaned and refreshed.
These are the pillows I made a couple of weeks
ago while the weather was so bad.
Had to keep myself busy!

I used canvas painter's drop cloth for this pillow and then just
stenciled the numbers and design.

I added Forsythia flowers to my planters for a little more color and painted and stenciled the bird houses in matching colors.

After all that was done, I worked on making the wreath.
I sprayed painted in a soft ivory color and just added some flowers, spring ribbon
and a couple of Easter eggs that I can take off after Easter and still keep the wreath up for a little while longer. Maybe! LOL

Oh, glorious sunshine!

On my lantern, I just put a white candle and wrapped it
with some leftover material from the pillows and added a little raffia.

But, before all this could be done, we did some serious cleaning!
It took us six hours to clean the flower bed, we trimmed all the bushes,
added brand new black mulch and planted some pretty flowers.

So you can get an idea of how much work this was, here is the
BEFORE!!!
Two weeks of rain!

Found these beautiful Iris at Lowe's on special for two dollars each.
Aren't they pretty?

And some white and yellow on the side of house.

I also painted an old pot I had and I used it on the side of the door with a new plant

We still have a little more work to do on the front yard, but, for now,
here is our home, all ready for Spring!

And, at the same time all this was happening, I got all ready for Debbie's copycat
party coming  up next week.
I can't wait to share it with you all!

Happy Monday to you all!
Thank you for visiting!

  10. Maria, I love your front porch! The pillows you made are so pretty and then you pay such attention to detail and used the same fabric around the candle :-) I also love your wreath :-) How did you put the flowers on there? Where did you get the ribbon? I found your blog from over at Debbie's.

  23. I'm envious that you get to do your gardening already! Although we've had a few warm days, you can't trust the weather where I live for a few more months now. One day it will be sunny and warm, yet it will snow the next. How nice it would be to have all the pops of color and be able to decorate the porch. I love the fabric you made your pillows from. I've stenciled before, so know you had a fun job with that. Thank you for linking up to my party!
