CHANGING THE LOOK OF MY DROP CLOTH PILLOWS

Happy Friday!

And a cold one at that! :)

Couldn't wait for this week to end, you see, our son is flying back home tomorrow for the second half of his 
"after deployment leave" and we are really excited to be able to have a little more family time together.

Sooo, before he arrives, I thought I take a rare, quite moment around here and share with you how I changed 
the look of the drop cloth pillows on my back porch.

Until we buy new outdoor furniture, I have been trying to make our porch a little more appealing 
by making new outdoor curtains (you can see that post here) and just add a few pretty pillows.

 You all know how much I like pillows! :)

Supplies needed for this project.

First, iron your fabric.

I forgot to take pictures while I was making the pillows, so I had to improvised and cut another piece of drop cloth to be able to give you this tutorial. Don't look at the wrinkles! :)
I chose a Fleur de Lis stencil.

Using a fabric marker, I traced the design.

And using a tiny paint brush and my favorite shade of brown, Burnt Amber, I filled in the Fleur de Lis.

Once it was dry, I placed the finished drop cloth piece over a larger burlap square and secured it with fabric glue.

And that's it! So simple.

A FALL WREATH

For the last two years, I have been decorating my front door with the same wreath

 I had bought at Kirklands a while back, so, this year, 

I decided it was time to put a new one on our door.

This is my first time making a Fall wreath, so I did look around for a while

until I found the flowers and ribbon I had in mind.

Finally found them at HL 50% off and a few small bunches at

Dollar Tree, so I didn't really have to spend much to put it together.

Actually, the total cost was under $10.00 since I used the 

old wreath I already had from last Spring.

Just removed all the decor from it, cleaned it and it looked like brand new.

This year, I wanted to use a different color, so I added some dark purple

on my front porch decor, which, by the way, I will share with you ladies soon.

Our entrance is undergoing a renovation and it should be finished

 here is the next few days.

Can't wait to share that project with you all!!!

 Once I had everything, it was very easy to make.

I wrapped the burlap ribbon around it and just hot glued away! LOL

The whole thing took me less than an hour.

I also found this cute Fall wreath holder for $2.99.

So here is my Fall wreath for this year.

Patiently Waiting for Fall

Like most of you, Fall time has been on my mind.

As the month of August rolled around, I already started looking 

here and there for the new Fall decor in stores.

When I decorated my front porch for summer back in May, I figured

it would stay the same until at least September. Wrong! LOL

During a trip to the fabric store, I came across this pretty outdoor fabric 

and I just couldn't help myself! 

It had been marked down and, in addition, it was on sale 50% off.

Right away I pictured it on my front porch!

Mind you, I was looking for Fall material, but, when I calculated in my head,

I realized that the cost for this project was only $10.00.

Sounds good to me! 

Well, although the kids are going back to school this month and

we really only have a few weeks left of summer, I told myself I needed another project 

to keep me going until the pumpkins can come out of the closet. :)

I know, I know! It is an illness!!! LOL

Here is what I did with the fabric. It is not much, but I figured it

will be put to good use at least until after Labor Day.

Since this decor will only be on my front porch for a few more weeks,

I did not want to spend any more money on flowers, so I used

the extra material to make my own for the wreath on the door and

added a few flowers I already had,

I just hope I don't run into anymore sales! :)

Now, to get ready for Fall, seriously!
