OUR FIRST DIY PROJECT OF 2013

What a crazy busy but exciting week this has been!
I finally have my FB page up.
Don't laugh, but it has been extremely hard for me to set it all up. Good thing I am hard headed! LOL

I have been wanting to post this project all week, but been so busy with everything else.
We finished it last weekend and although is not decorated yet, I will show you today what the finished project looks like.

We have a niche on the hallway wall, between the library and laundry room. I look at it several times every day and I was never really happy with the way it looked, even though I painted the inside wall in a different color and changed the decor several times, it always looked to me like a dark hole in the wall.

Well, after putting our thinking caps on, this is what we came up with.

An this is the way it looked before

We did start by selecting a small tile that we liked.
We wanted something that would resemble stone, since that is what we have on our fireplace and the outside of our home. We ended up using Tumbled Marble for this project.

First step was getting the tile up on the wall and using spacers to get it to look straight and hold the tile up while it was drying.  When it was finished, we let it dry overnight.

Nest step was the grout, which it gave it a nice finished look.

We shopped around for the glass shelves.
First place gave us a quote of $300.00 for three little pieces of glass. Now, really! This space is only 30 inches wide.
We finally found a nice little shop that made all three pieces of tempered glass for $70.00.

And now I am just itching to get it decorated. :)
I am just not very patient when it comes to these things.

And this is before and after.

I thank you all for stopping by.
It is almost Friday! :)
See you soon.
