Introducing a new blog

Hi, everyone!
Hope you all are having a great week.
Mine, so far, has been insane! LOL

I haven't had much time in the last couple of weeks to really blog about anything or
to even visit all the blogs I love so much, but today, I wanted to take the time
to introduce you guys to a new friend and her beautiful new blog in wonderful "blogland".

Please, meet Wanda!
You can find her new blog right here at

Wanda is a very sweet and caring girl and also an Army wife.
She has been one of my friends/follower for a while now.

We have a saying in the Army " Home is where the Army sends you", so,
with that in mind, she and her husband have called Florida their home
for the last eight months, since that is where her husband
is proudly serving at the moment.

Wanda is not only an Army wife, but also a mom to two girls.
She and her husband also love to work together on DIY projects and
they take a lot of pride on everything they do to improve their new home.

She is very talented and has great style.
I love the way she has decorated her new home!

And she and her husband are sure not afraid to tackle big projects.
My kind of people! :)
They just recently painted the kitchen cabinets in their new home.
Don't they look gorgeous?

As military life goes, her husband is getting ready to deploy for a tour overseas.
This is not a fun time for a military family, believe me, I have been there many times.
The worries, anxiety and that feeling in the pit of your stomach
that just refuses to go away.

I am glad Wanda decided to start a blog. I think this is going to be a great outlet for her while her husband is away and she will enjoy very much making new friends and I hope you all pay her a visit and say hello!

She has been working very hard to get her blog finished and she will be posting some beautiful pictures of her home soon.

Wanda, I can't wait to see all the new pictures of your
gorgeous home and all your new projects!
Welcome to "blogland"!!!

"Tangerine Tango" found its way into our home

I knew this was going to happen!
I loved this color since the first time they said  it was going to be the " color of the year".

Every summer I decorate my front door in red, white and blue, but this year I wanted something different.
So, I decided to give this new color a try.

I will be doing the Patriotic theme on my back porch since it is where we will be spending
our 4th of July celebration.

It all started when I found this fabric.
I saw it across the store and it was love at first sight! :)

I knew I had to bring it home with me and this is what I did with it.
And mixed it up a little bit with some drop cloth material
and a little stenciling and some Teal.
I just think both colors look so pretty together.

After I was done making the pillows, I found myself needing a new wreath
for the front door.
Isn't that the way it always happens?
So, I went "shopping" in my storage closet.
I asked my daughter to make me some fabric flowers with some
material I already had and some left over from the pillows.

Wrapped a little burlap around the wreath I already had, added some other flowers
I also found in my closet and a little teal ribbon for some added color.

And this is what it looks like

Even my candle got a little makeover

Then, I found these pretty flowers at Michael's, so I used them to fill my planters.

And this is what it looks like together.
Is it bright? Yes, it is!!!
You can probably see my porch from space! LOL

Even my plant in the corner got a little tangerine color.
I just used a plate I found at the Dollar Tree.
I think I may stencil or paint the pot this weekend when I have a little more time.

I only bought the material and the flowers and they were both on sale 50% off,
so total cost of this project was $14.00.
Not a bad price to give your porch a little update for the summer.

So this is what I have been up to this week.
Now that it finally stopped raining, I hope to get the back porch done in a few days.

I hope you guys are having a great week!
Thank you for visiting!

Home Tour ( Part 2)

I sure hope everybody had a great Mother's Day!
Mine was just wonderful and full of pampering
and some great surprises!
My husband and children really went out of their way to
make this day special for me.

A few days ago, I posted Part 1 of our home tour.
If you want to see it again, you can find it here.

Now, as promised, Home Tour part 2.
Today, I will be showing you guys the second floor of our home.

We start with the stairwell.
I think this is what sold us on the house the first time we saw it.
A couple of years ago, during some time off work during the summer,
my husband and I added the chair rail and molding to the staircase wall.

Since it is all open space, we painted the bottom part Latte by SW to flow with the dinning room and living room.
This was not a very hard project, but very time consuming since we built and painted
all the molding pieces ourselves.
This summer, we hope to have the time to remove the carpet on the stairs
and replace it with hardwood.

On the small landing, I added an accent table with a
vase with flowers, a clock and some pictures of my kids when they were little.
The picture on the wall has the same flowers as the vase.
On the wall going up the steps, I put in a vinyl quote and I did
some stenciling around it.

As you get upstairs, this is the first thing you see.

To the left, is the Master Suite.

And we have our own private balcony, which I am in
the process of decorating.

To the left of the bedroom, is the door to the Master Bathroom

To the right of the top of the stairs you will find our daughter's room.
This is the project we did during last Christmas.

This space used to be another family room, but, it was really
wasted space that nobody used.
Really! Who needs three living rooms in their home? Not us!
We had it fully decorated and all it did was to collect dust.

It was an open space, so we built the wall around it and installed
 double doors to enclose it.

When it was all said and done, she went crazy in Pottery Barn! LOL
She is still looking for a rug, a bench for the foot of her bed
and some other small items.
I think she has done an excellent job with her new room decor!

If you turn right on the upstairs hallway, it takes you to the other three
bedrooms and two bathrooms.

First on the right, you find our daughter's bathroom.
She is also in the process of changing the decor here.
It is not very big, but she is just happy she does not has to share it with the boys! LOL

First door on the left is my soon to be new craft room.
This has turned out to be a long project, but we will finish it soon.

So far, we replaced the carpet with hardwood floors, added some high shelves that go all around the roomwe installed a new chandelier, I made a new valance for the window and I just started to organize some of my craft supplies.

Cabinets, counter and work bench coming very soon.
I can't wait for this room to be finished!

Moving right along, down the hall are the boys bedrooms.

This two rooms have a Jack and Jill bathroom that connects the two rooms,
but, because I  really cherish you all friendships,
I won't be showing you all that bathroom today. LOL
I call it " the twilight zone".
For those of you that have young boys in the house, well, you know what I mean!

Actually, this is an old picture.
We just bought our youngest son a whole new bedroom set.
I would of liked to show you his new room, but he just finished his college finals ( he passed all his classes with A's, by the way) and I can NOT get him out of that bed long enough to even take a picture! LOL

Coming out of his room and down the hallway again

And this is the view from upstairs

Well, this concludes the tour of our home.
I hope you enjoyed it!
There is still so many upgrades we want to do and so many walls to decorate,
but I am sure it will all happen with time.

Thank you all for taking the time to come by and
always leave me the sweetest comments!
I really appreciate all of you!
Have a great week!
