DROP CLOTH STOOL COVER

Happy Friday!
It has been a long week of work for our family,
so we are all really looking forward to the weekend.

I have been making some small changes in our master bathroom, trying to make it
a bit "happier" for the Spring and Summer months.

One of the things I did last week was make a drop cloth cover for the vanity stool.

These stool is one of the pair we used to have in the kitchen when we moved into this house.

When we bought the larger stools, the pair went into the storage room and with time,
I recovered and painted one to use in my craft room.

And now, the one in the bathroom also got a "facelift".
I didn't paint the frame on this one. I liked how the bronze color looks with the drop cloth.
Let me show you how I made the cover.
Once again I used left over drop cloth, so there was no cost to this project.

Now, I am no seamstress, so I had to figure out my way through this project. :)

The stool seat is 20" in diameter.
I cut a piece of drop cloth, found the center, marked it and using my tape measure to find my radius,
I measured from the center to the edge. I also added one and a half inches for the hem.

I pinned my hem and run it through the sewing machine.

I also made a ruffle to add to the bottom of the cover.

When is all finished, iron your drop cloth really well and put over your seat.
To finish it off, I added a lace trim all around it.

The bathroom doesn't even look like this anymore.
While I was in there cleaning last week, I made some changes. :)
I will share with you next week.

I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
See you soon.

MASON JAR PIN CUSHION

You all know I love creating things for my home using things I already have, specially leftover fabric
Today, I am sharing with you a tiny little pin cushion I made a couple of weeks ago,
once again using what I had on hand.

I have spending a lot of time sewing everyday, specially lately.
I already had the pins inside the small jar, but it was no fun getting poked every time I reached in there. :)
I almost went out to buy a pin cushion, but then decided to try to make one.

This is how I made it.
First, choose a fabric. I used a small piece I had left from the pillow covers I made for my Etsy shop.
For this size jar, I cut it 5"x5".
Fold the fabric twice and round the corners.

Using needle and threat, sew a long stitch around the edge of your fabric.

Gather the threat by pulling it.
Add some batting. And insert the small part of your lid inside the little pouch.
The lid will prevent your pins from falling in, specially if you are not using the ones with the round heads.

Stitch the little pouch to close it and cut your treat.
It doesn't have to be pretty and perfect because you are about to cover it.

Using white felt, I traced the inside of the jar lid and using hot glue, I covered the back of the little cushion.

Push the cushion into the lid and you are done!
Couldn't be any easier.

Just a little project, but it sure comes in handy when you are sewing.
Thank you all for visiting and I will be back tomorrow to share with you another drop cloth project.
Enjoy your day!

DROP CLOTH TABLE SKIRT

I have so much drop cloth left from when I made the outdoor curtains that I decided to put it to good use.

Before I start this post, I want to thank everyone who linked to Tuesdays at Our Home this week.
For some reason, either I messed up when I set up the link up or there is a glitch in their system, but I did not received any of the emails with the entries, so I won't be able to email you back personally like I like to do.
I apologize for this.

For a while now, I have been wanting a table on the side of the single chair in our family room.
Last week I decided to use the leftover drop cloth and make a new table skirt for an old round table we had in the storage room for years.

I want to add some fringe to the bottom, but I didn't have any, so it will have to wait until I can get to Hobby Lobby this week. Meanwhile, this is how it turned out.

To decorate it, I also used an old Kirklands lamp and a clock I had in storage and a very, very old ceramic urn that I brought back to life by changing the flowers on it.

As you can see, it is just a small addition and a very easy project. These small tables are all 72", I cut my drop cloth at 74" and used the other two inches to sew a nice hem on it. You could also use iron on hem tape.
Drop cloth is such an easy fabric to work with.

I hope your week is going well.
Thank you for the visit!
