NOT A WINTER MANTLE

I hope you are all having a great week!
Around here things are slowly going back to normal and I have been updating our home a bit for the new year.

Little by little the rooms are coming together but I have chosen not to decorate our home for winter and just went with an "everyday" look and color pattern. The same was the case with our mantle.

This time around I started to decorate the mantle from the center and this process seemed to make things
a little easier for me.
I bought some wooden letters, painted them "Heirloom White" and covered the fronts with a pretty craft paper.

The only thing new on the mantle are the two metal lanterns from Kirklands.

On the hearth I used my old orange pillow which I paired with a smaller one in a pretty turquoise color.
I finished it with an old ceramic charger and a metal basket my kids got me as part of my Christmas gifts.

And that is it, very simple but it goes well with the rest of the decor in the family room and kitchen
which I will share with you soon.

I will be back soon to share the rest of the room.
Meanwhile, enjoy the rest of your week.
See you soon!

  1. That looks lovely! Are the letters for the word home made of wood? Great job there.

  2. Your mantel and heatrh look beautiful, Maria, and I think you have a perfect look for this time of year. I didn't do so much of a winter theme either, just things that I loved without the pieces that signify holidays or seasons...a breath of fresh air!! Love it!

  3. It crossed my mind after taking down the TON of Christmas décor I had up and feeling exhausted, to not do a winter theme décor and instead, do an "everyday" look like you have marvellously designed. However, I didn't listen to my inner voice and did the winter theme - seeing your beautiful and fresh look, I wish I had done that too. Those lanterns are terrific!

  4. I think it's perfect! Don't you love Heirloom White? It's always my go-to shade. I love how you covered the HOME letters with the pretty craft paper too. Everything looks lovely, as always. :)

  6. Very pretty, Maria Elena! I think it's nice to celebrate the everyday in our homes and not always rush from one season or holiday right into the next. Those lanterns are lovely....gotta love Kirklands!

    Warm hugs,
