A SIMPLE LAMPSHADE UPDATE

Hello everyone.
I hope your week is going well.
Mine started a little busy, but all the chores and errands are finally finished and now it is time to "play". :)

Last week I had many of you asking me how I made the lamps and lampshades for our back porch.

The solar rope lamps I made last Summer. You can see that post here. I am also very proud to say this project was featured on Woman's World magazine this past June.

This year, after updating the outdoor furniture, I decided to change up the lampshades, which were getting a little old looking after being outside for so many months.

This is how I did it. I purchased two drum shades at Walmart from the Better Homes and Gardens collection.

But I didn't want just a simple shade.

So I decided to add a small embellishment to them.
I purchased a roll of laminated burlap. You can find them at  Michaels for $2.99.
And if you use a 50% off coupon, it will cost you about $1.50 a roll.

To make the project easier for me, I cut a couple of patterns using card stock and I just traced the petals
with a pencil on the laminated part of the burlap roll.

I cut eight petals and two circles for each flower and put them together using the glue gun.

When they were finished, I sprayed the back of every flower with my favorite spray adhesive.
This brand works really well.

And quickly attached them to each lampshade.

A very simple and economical project, but I think it gives your lamps a more personal look.

I hope this simple tutorial helps you decorate your lampshades. Thank you all so much for stopping by.

Until next time!
