Good Morning!
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
Around here, we are deep into our back porch project. We are trying to get as much as possible done during the early morning hours, because the weather is very, very hot and humid in Texas.
It is only 8:00 am and the thermometer already reads 92 degrees.
My weeks has been extremely busy lately, we had friends visiting from out of town and then family,
so my crafting and decor time has been minimum.
But, while the back porch is getting a full "facelift", I made a couple of changes to the front porch.
Nothing grand, just gave it a little fresh new look.
You all remember how a while back I mentioned the new color of the year, Emerald green, well, I just love this color!
I had to go to Lowe's and get a little paint sample!
It only cost me $3.00 and with this sample I painted two of my outdoor flower boxes.
Let me tell you, that little container goes a long way!
I still have paint left.
This color is very bright and rich, so when my husband came home and informed me that he was sure I was blinding the astronauts at the space station with my newly painted flower boxes, LOL I decided to use just one.
Next, I went looking for new fabric, which I thought it was going to be half way impossible to match, but I was wrong, Hancock Fabrics had a really nice supply of different patterns in Emerald green and they were on sale.
I was able to make all three pillows for $5.00.
Can't beat that!
I choose this one because the design on the fabric reminded me of the metal piece on the planter.
Next came the wreath for the door. I knew there was no way I was going to find silk flowers in this color, so I made my own using left over fabric.
And this is how it came together.
I still want to get some plants, maybe a nice fern for the side of the door, but with this heat, all the plants are not looking very well at the stores, so I think I will wait a little while.
The only ones loving this heat are my Crape Myrtles.
They are full of blooms!
Total cost of refreshing the porch was a little under $9.00.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I will see you right here Monday evening for another edition of
Tuesdays at Our Home.
Until then!

ReplyDeleteI love these vibrant colors! You did a wonderful job with the planter and pillows. I have to admit when Pantone first announced this color of the year, I wasn't too crazy about it...you've changed my mind! :)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Your porch looks so lovely. I need to get alittle more color in mine. Love the pillows and the paint color.
ReplyDeleteI love your redo!! All that for under $9, too. WOW!
ReplyDeleteYour porch looks fabulous, Maria! Emerald green sure does give it a punch, right! Of course, I also love the neon green pillow!! It would go nicely on my porch too! LOL!! Your wreaths are fantastic! I love the fabric flowers!! Try to stay cool.....thank goodness for crepe myrtles!! At least they're beautiful in this heat!!~~Ang
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteHelen
those colors really POP on the porch! Looks very nice! :)
ReplyDeleteYour porch looks fun and cheerful, Maria Elena! I love those colors together, and the fabric you chose is perfect. Your Crape Myrtles are gorgeous. We have a few shrubs that bloom and seem to flourish in the heat, but they are well established -- certainly nothing new that has just been planted. Most of those things are crispy now. It's been too hot to get out and clear them away.
ReplyDeleteI love green so I think it looks great. Love the bright colors and such pretty flowers too!
ReplyDeleteMaria Elena, you have truly embraced the Pantone Green. It looks fresh and welcoming on your front porch! I'm right there with you on those hot Texas summer days, definitely hard to get any work done outside!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

I'm never going to complain about our 70 degrees at 8am here in central VA!! I grew up in West TX but it was dry heat so I can't stand humidity!! Anyway, I love your vision and creativity. Not a fan of emerald but you definitely know how to make it look good. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! Loving that color!
