A GIFT FROM THE HEART

In the last few months, I have often been absent from the blog. I know you have noticed I have been posting less,
but there are times in our lives where priorities take over.

When our son got sick back in February, everything else came to a halt and my days have been filled with nursing him back to health, because I think you agree when I say it doesn't matter if your child is two years old or twenty, when they are sick, nothing else matters much.

We have been travelling back and forth to MD Anderson hospital in Houston where he has been a patient since he was 12 years old when he became terminally ill.
This hospital was for over a year our second home and the doctors and nurses became our family.
We owe them everything, we owe them our son's life.

In the last two months, we have many doctor visits, numerous test done and we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. As of now, all results are coming back normal and he is feeling like his old shelf again.
We are finally starting to release that breath we didn't realized we were holding.

He and I have been spending a lot of time together and just the other day, while we were at home getting some chores done, the doorbell rings and the UPS guy dropped this box at my front door. My son tells me there was a package for me and my first first thought after seeing that large box was "I haven't ordered anything from Macy's".

And that is when he told me it was a gift from him.
What! Why? I told him it wasn't my birthday or Mother's Day. LOL And that is when he told me he saw me a few days before looking at this item online and he wanted to buy it for me to say thank you for everything I had done for him while he was sick and always. You want to talk about unexpected!
Oh boy, did I cry! I haven't stopped yet! LOL

And he was right, I have been eyeing this beauty for a while now, actually since we bought our new dining room furniture like over a year ago.

I love everything about it, it is very sturdy and the serving plates are real crystal. Just gorgeous in person!
I wanted it to use it all year long to display seasonal plates and it will come very handy when we have company over.
I think it will be beautiful to serve dessert during the holidays. You can find it here.

And now is displayed on our buffet table holding some pretty white dishes.

I will treasure this gift forever and every time I see it, it will remind me that everything I do as a mom
will always be appreciated.

I want to take the time now to thank you all for all the prayers, get well wishes and emails
you have sent me concerning our son.
You are all such amazing and caring people!
Now, as we wait for the final test results, I just pray it will all be behind him soon.

As for me, I thank God every day for giving me the chance to be a mom to my wonderful boy.

Have a wonderful week!
XOXO

  5. That is beautiful, Maria Elena, and so sweet of your son to buy that for you. I am so thankful you had MD Anderson close by to provide care for your son. You know how I feel about that hospital! I, too, got an unexpected gift from our son today. I say unexpected because we laid down the law to our children years ago not to spend their money on us, but sometimes they just don't listen. Mom's and their boys....just something extra special there.

    Have a lovely Mother's Day!
