FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Happy New Year, everyone! After cleaning, dusting and packing away Christmas decor for over a week now, I am sure you all agree when I say, " Wow! That was a lot of work!

I am ready to get back to blogging and decorating!
I finally had time today to sit down and browse through all my favorite blogs and I came across Alison's post at
The Polohouse.

Her theme for this month is collections and that got me to thinking. I don't really collect one specific item, but one thing I have been doing for a long time is collecting different items from around the world.

During 23 years of military life, we have traveled quite a bit and everywhere we went, we always bought something to bring home.

Here are a few of our world treasures

Campodimonte porcelain roses from Italy.
My husband bought them for me on our fifth wedding Anniversary.
That was a very long time ago! :)

And the vase, also from Italy.

My wooden candle holders, hand carved from a tree in Bethlehem.
These are so special to me!

These tea pots are one of my most precious possessions. I bought them in East Berlin when the Berlin wall was still very much a reality, during a trip back in 1981 that I will never forget as long as I live.

Hand painted ceramic tray from Mexico

Lladro from Spain. This was a gift from my parents-in-law when my first child was born.

Also from Spain, hand painted dish set

And, from Germany, crystal, crystal and more crystal.

And also from Germany, a collection of beer glasses we have never even used.

So, here is my collection of a little bit of everything.
Each one of these items has a special memory attach to it, either a special trip or a special moment in time.
Thank you for stopping by!

  11. What a great collection of beautiful pieces and wonderful memories :-) I love the colourful ceramic pieces, and the little ceramic deer is so sweet. The porcelain roses look just like the real thing!

I've been collecting glass fishing floats for the last couple of years. They fascinate me - how did these pieces of glass survive years floating in the ocean and braving the elements? Amazing!
