It is that time again!
Time to go join Debbie at http://debbie-debbiedoos.com/ for another one of her great
Magazine copycat challenge parties.
I am in the process of redoing our son's room.
He is now proudly serving in the US Navy and we just found out
he will be coming home on leave in two weeks.
Words can't tell you how happy I am since I have not seen my son for almost six months!
We have done several improvements in his room lately that I will share with you all soon,
but, while online searching for a new comforter set, I came across an
art piece that I really liked and I thought I give it a try.
These are the pictures I found on line at Bed, Bath & Beyond
Do you see the art over the bed?
Here is my version
I had this very, very old picture.
I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it! LOL
But I am glad I kept it!
I took it apart and painted the frame satin black.
These are the supplies I used.
Adhesive borders and foam board.
The board was the only thing I had to purchase for $1.99.
And I just made a copy of the print I wanted at Walgreens for $2.99.
Very simple and very economical!
Total cost of project, $5.00.
On my way to check out all the copycat entries.
Thank you Debbie for hosting this fun party!
And, thank you all for taking the time to stop by!
That is perfect! How nice for your son. Enjoy!~
ReplyDeleteI really like your picture, Maria Elena. Like the price too.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! Was the picture a photo that you had?

Looks very good, and I actually prefer your print to the one you took the idea from.

It turned out very nicely. Your son will love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's no wonder that you like the copy cat challenges--you do a fantastic job! This picture turned out great (I love the addition of the adhesive border!) and is so appropriate for your Navy son. I'm so happy for you that you will get to see him soon. My son just ended nine months in Bahrain and is back on Oahu. I haven't seen him in a year. :(
ReplyDeleteYour project turned into a work of art! This is perfect for your Navy son's room. How wonderful for you he is coming home on leave. Six months is a long time to a mom. I know your welcome home celebration will be wonderful. My very best to your son, and a huge thank you for what he is doing. My dad was in the Navy, so they have a special place in my heart.
